When the thief Suri suffers a humiliating robbery, she has one day to pay off an ugly debt. Her solution: abduct and impersonate a foreign princess at the royal ball. But the wickedly handsome fae lord of the wasteland, Kol, has gatecrashed the party to find the princess she’s pretending to be. And worse, his bodyguards are the same ones who robbed her the night before.
With Suri’s knife lodged in Kol’s right-hand man, stolen trinkets in her pockets, and now her kidnapped princess missing, she can’t outrun the law. The King exiles her with one condition: assassinate Kol, and all is forgiven. But Kol has promised his own brutal revenge against her—if his wastelands don’t kill her first.
In this fast-paced fantasy debut, expect a powerful adventure, lots of twists and turns, and the start of a slow-burn romance.

My Thoughts
This book was beautifully written.
It gave me early Cinderella vibes with a Throne of Glass twist.
I absolutely love a badass FMC, and Suri was no exception.
A pickpocket with a habit of getting into bad situations, wrong place, wrong time kinda thing.
There is so much that happens in this story it is hard not to give a billion spoilers, while trying to express my thoughts.
The MMC is a morally grey shadow daddy and when he turned round and called her ‘little thief’ I was hooked on him.

After a chance encounter led to her sneaking in to an event, she gets caught.
Now at this point I was thinking she was going to get hurt, but alas, she ends up on a quest instead. Which turns out to be an amazing reading experience.
So anyway, she gets caught and winds up punished but with a shot at redemption, but there are lots of twists and turns throughout this book, that will steal your heart and soul forever..
I really enjoy a fantasy adventure, so give it a go guys, it’s full of under the surface ‘sexual tension‘, drama, and shadow daddy deliciousness.
Sometimes slowburn can be good.
I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
