My Review
I received an ARC of this book, so thank you for allowing me to read this.
This book has potential. It’s not written well considering the author’s academic career.
Despite its many plot holes, and some very loose points that are barely whiffed at, I did enjoy the premise of the story. It just lacks a lot of substance. I feel like it’s stuck somewhere between a children’s/teens age book. If the book was structured better, and contained more depth, more YA fantasy/sci-fi elements, more world building then it would be a far more successful story. I currently can’t place it properly into a category to sum it up. It’s only a short story, but I wanted to like it and perhaps could have, had it been able to fill the much needed vibes and had been written more for its intended audience. I did enjoy the idea of space travel itself, I thought that was a positive.
There wasn’t enough world building, nor enough vibes for the characters for me to truly enjoy the book sadly. So it’s a solid 2* from me.
