Okay, so I actually enjoyed this book rather a lot. I found each of the characters perspectives a bit hefty, but worth sticking with it. It does get a little confusing now and then trying to keep up with 6 whole characters, told in 3rd person, while having the reading experience of an overseer kind of.
This is detail heavy, and this might affect certain readers due to the lack of clear and concise action plots.

I loved that the story has changelings, like I haven’t come across that before in a fantasy book at least.
I loved the premise of fated mates to break a curse, that gave me a little once upon a time vibe (the evil queens curse, iykyk)

While I respect the authors attention to detail, it was a bit of a challenge to push on, as I was reading the same overly detailed scene from different angles at times.
Still, the themes of the book were intricate and very enjoyable.

We start with a young woman who has suffered so much stealthy neglect and psychological abuse by the parents, who is intrigued and being called by the way of dreams. The sheer fact she seeked an escape from her mundane and oppressed existence was just.. identifiable.

It hung heavy in my heart to see how cold the MC had become during her life, how numb she was due to her upbringing and bullying. I have experience of similar things, and it honestly made me so sad that I could identify, and connect with the character as I did.

Also the poor kitty, gave me a ‘rapidly blink to stem the water leaking’ moment.

Overall, the book was very well written, with beautiful extremely rich world building, an intriguing magic system and impeccable story telling.

I look forward to book 2 in the series, I hope that the fated mates plot will give some oomph, as I felt it has it’s candle blown out amass the other content in the story.

I will definitely continue the series for the plotlines, it is definitely worth a read!
Packed with emotion and deeply interwoven character arcs, this is one that should be added to your TBR pile for sure!
